Hi, So nice to come across your site tonight. I used to spend many happy hours on my Atari 800 years ago - I wish I had kept it too. I loved collecting games, magazines, utilities and documentation for that computer too. And getting a 1050 disk drive was a revelation to me after a tape deck. Kindest regards Malc

Thank you so much for creating this website. It's a wonderful resource for the Atari 8-bit computers, packed with information that would be otherwise difficult to find.

I found this site while Google searching for the Autocrostics game written by my friend, Jim Dysle. I see it's available for download here. I helped beta-test this program when Jim was writing it. Once it was done, I created several puzzles for it. At one point, I asked Jim if I could do a Visual Basic port of the program to the PC. He responded by giving me the source and signing over the rights to the program. I never did get around to the PC port.

Brilliant site; well done! Nice to see Harvey Kong Tin in this Guest Book! I remember your name Harvey from the good old Page 6 days (I wrote the MJDbase program). Nice to see a 'familiar name'. :-) Mike.

If anyone knows of any RMT music that is free of copyright etc etc - meaning can be used in a new game as such - please contact me... as AtariBLAST! is in need for such RMT music - but has the restrictions of - 3 channels instead of 4 and no use of 16-bit or filters.
Harvey Kong Tin (2015-06-26 03:13:08)
I'm always for encouraging websites that keep interest in Atari 400/800 etc hardware and software alive and working again... etc etc. Work is still continuing with the development of GTIABlast! (now renamed to AtariBLAST!) - and it is shaping up very nicely to be the A8 bit equivalent of Raiden and other such like shooters. If you felt that the A8 lacked a decent Armalyte (C64) kind of game - well, AB! should fit that requirement very well. It's been ages since the last official demo release - and much work/progress has been done, since then.

Awesome website...thank you for preserving our Atari history!! I can't believe my Cyberscape XE animation is still out there somewhere, well in cyberspace... I've just learned about the 800 emulator for windows and I've been playing around with it, exploring just how cool our XL/XEs are and how much personality they possessed. I still have all of my old 8-bit hardware and software, along with my ST and 2600 hardware and software. Unfortunately one of my 1050 drives died and I haven't booted anything up for several years now. Thanks for keeping this all alive!! Will definitely be back. Sincerely, Bill LeMasurier

Always nice to see people keeping the torch lit. Great job! My Atari journey started in 1983 with a 16K 600XL and no permanent storage. Technically it started in 1977 with an Atari VCS (wasn't called 2600 back then). Soon after my 600XL though I got a 410 tape drive... wow! Then I got a 1050 and 800XL for Christmas in 1984 (came with the awesome DOS 3). Now that was LIVIN! I started using PCs around 1989 for work but my 800XL was my personal use computer until my 1st PC purchase in 1993. Even post 1993 I still would use my Atari for the great fun games it had. I felt my 8-bit Atari held up pretty well in the game area, at least for enjoyment of play, but the PC I found much more pleasant to use for BBSing, Word processing etc. by that time. A 14.4Kbps modem was much snappier than the SX212 and XM301 I had used on my Atari and the resolution of the display was better (SVGA). Anyway I am blathering on about the fond nostalgia. Currently today, I still poke around with the Atari here and there just for fun, but now it is via emulation with Altirra. Great to here some stories from others here as well.

I've been collecting since 2010, but an atari user since 1990. I cut my teeth on an Atari 400 with asteroids and basic - and it's been a long journey. Here's to another 25 years of 8-bit awesomeness!
